Counter strike source gfx

ok ive tried searching, but i cant find it, or dont even know what its called =\
look in this picture, how distant objects turn greyish white colored, sometimes its hard for me to see.
Setup:
res: 1440x900
gfx card: xfx geforce 8600 GT XXX
I didnt have this on my crappy old computer

i know some one here plays CS:S =)

idont know what AA is, i just left the recomended settings, what is it?

whats your FPS and do you have vertical sync turned on in windows (that will cut it in half) and drop HDR. to check FPS either do the stress test or use net_graph 7 in console

All vsync does is is keep the FPS compatible with your screens refresh rate... thats it. Prevents tearing.

Um - no. The graphics card is working just as hard to render the images as it would without VSync turned on, it prevents the framerate from being higher than the refreshrate of your monitor. In the case of FP displays, there is no refresh rate, so its pointless having it either on or off. Test it if you like - use ATITool or Rivatuner to monitor temps - you'll see NO difference in temperature OR load.

so uhhhh, vsync is bad? or good? lol sounds like its not that big a deal.
