Here is the deal. I just bought a sup with hks cams and was going to sale them but I have since decided to keep them but a lot of people were asking me the specs and I dont know how to check. Do they have the specs stamped on them anywhere?

CNew: About the only way would be to mock up a motor grab a degree wheel and dial indicator and plot em (bitch of a job on a 7M due to the head design)

If you had a race shop nearby they might have a test jig set up and could plot em in minutes.

I was just looking on hks site and google search and it appears that hks only made them at 256 deg. spec. do you know if that is true? If so then there is no reason to pay to check.

Dunno CN sorry...

Ask DrJ he might be able to tell you for sure.

It would be a bit strange if that's the only profile they made as it seems a lot of work to produce blanks for a single profile.

If they're done on stock base circle you could measure the lift by comparing them to a stock set, I'd say HKS would have used a unique lift for each duration if they made more than 1 spec.

its easy, buy a Mr.Gasket Degree wheel from Summitracing.com take them to a lathe, and chuck up the cam between the 2 points w/ the degree wheel sandwiched on one end. put a surface micrometer on the base circle of a lobe. then put a magnetic pointer on the lathe and point it to the degree wheel. now, you can turn the cam in the lathe, and mark on the degree wheel where the surface micrometer deflects. this is the beginning of the "advertised duration". turn the cam thru the end of the lobe and mark where the surface micrometer zeroes back out. this is the end of your "Adv. Dur.". Now, go back, and disregard the number of degrees that it takes to get from 0.00" of fluctation to 0.020" of fluctuation. Begin to measure the Cam duration via your pointed on the degree wheel thru the end of the lobe and record when the pointer comes down back to the 0.020". this is your "Actual duration"... the duration that actually serves a purpose. to measure total lift, put you surface micrometer on the base circle and zero it out. then rotate the cam to the peak lift, and record the measurement.

its pretty easy once its rigged up. i measured the 2jzgte cams back in the day.... or was it the 1jz cams? i think i measured the 2jzgte. my friend has the pics/specs somewhere, i hope.
