I have done a lot of searching on copper head gaskets for our motors, and not finding a whole lot, my block has been o-ringed so I do believe this is my only option for a hg. I would rather not take the rings out and then run a mhg leaving the bore from the rings and puting the gasket over it just doesnt seem like a good idea! So, my question is, is this my only option and where would I look to get a copper hg? I have tried googling copper hg for the 7mgte and havent had any luck! I guess a little back ground I bought the motor about 4 months ago from a guy that had it completely built, still waiting on the build sheet, not going to really hold my breath on that! But I got the motor in my 77 celica, was driving it around for about a month and last week the head gasket blew, pushing 6lbs! Tore it apart and there was the o-rings and a graphite hg! Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks Dustin

I had a similar situation. I will tell you they exist but o-rings on a 7m isn't a great option.
You can see how little material is left between the cylinders. That being said, I daily drove this motor for a year (on stock boost) without issue.

Unfortunately I can't tell you where the HG came from because I had the machine shop order it.

Yeah I think I am going to go to my napa, or nine to nine. they are my better autoparts stores otherwise all I got is vatozone and chucks! once I get a little more time I will take a picture of mine looks like I might have a little more room between cylinders but not much!!! Everywhere I was reading says with the o-ring and copper gasket you can boost these things to the moon with no issues, just maybe some coolant seepage!
Thanks Dustin

hey, dustin I had my block o-ringed and put a copper gasket on my 7mgte. 3 times. Here is my experience. They wont work for long! Here is what I learned after 3 copper head gaskets and a lot of work and frustration. 1.you have an iron block 2. copper gasket 3. alumunim head. This your problem aluminum temperature changes will make the head break the seal. 3 different metals and 3 different temperatures. Now my copper gaskets were very thick and not able to bend at all. So check with a copper specialist about thinner copper gasket. Solution_ I bought a cometic MLS gasket and some stuff called hylomar. put it on gasket and let it sit over night. put some on the block and bottom of the head. use arp studs and 95ft lbs.
