I just got my new turbo today(Garrett TO4E). The guy that built it said that I didnt need my water lines that cooled it since I have a turbo timer. Does anyone agree or disagree with the statement? He does build turbos for a living, so I took his word for it, and I'm going to install it tomorrow. I just thought I would ask for a second or third opinion.

Nah Garrett just went to the expense and effort of designing the water cooling side of it for fun........

Yes you can run it without water.

Should you run it without water is another matter.

It's 2 hoses and 4 clamps how hard can it be to do it right?

The guy that built it specializes in RX7's. Would there turbos not use water lines to cool them? He showed me the turbo on his car and he didnt have any water lines on it. I'm not a turbo expert, that is why I'm asking about it here. He said that as long as I had a turbo timer I would be fine.

I also asked a Turbonetics rep about this awhile ago and he said while it wasn't necessary, they could add to the overall longevity of the turbo. I would say go ahead and use 'em if you got 'em!
