coolant temp gage issues please help

So i finnally got my car back on the road after a long sit and wait for parts and comming back from iraq and the temp gage does not work and also the birdcage, it worked before i parked the car and now it does not, so what do you guys think? i was planning on running another temp gage until i got this fixed but i thought that i would ask around here first

Besides the sensor being bad, also make sure that the wire didn't fall off or that the wire for sensor is broken.

I would check the wire first, a lot of times these old brittle sensors seem to fall off time to time. Sometimes I have even forgot to re-connect it.

If you get a new sensor and the problem still exists you need to check into the wiring, maybe even the cluster, But I highly doubt your cluster is not functioning correctly.

All the things said above are possible, but also check for corrosion in the connector. I've had problems with corrosion in those sensor connectors.
