Coolant overflow?

Well, for the past few months, I've been forced to carry a bottle of coolant in my car due to the fact that it hits the low mark about once or twice every month. A week or so ago, I had just come back from driving for a little bit and popped my hood in my driveway to check my oil (i also keep a bottle of oil in my car lol) and the coolant overflow bottle was just spewing coolant out of its spout.

Why does it do this? I think I've heard that it can be signs of a bhg. But how could coolant overflow be signs of a bhg? Also, i heard it could be signs of a bad radiator cap? How can a bad radiator cap cause this?

Thanks for helping out a newbie!

if you have no clue how old your radiator cap is go get a new one of those... i believe they are like 5 bucks. then burp the system...

but first we need more info... miles on the car? stock hg? if you are around 80k or up on miles on a stock hg without it being retorqued forget getting a new cap you most likely have a bad hg...

damn toyota think they would have made a recall many moons ago

If you ask the Toyota technical experts, and I did, they don't know of any HG problems. Toyota has kept this under wraps real good, even within. Probably trying to avoid an expensive recall. Which it looks like they did.
