I finally found where my coolant was going. I took my carpet mat out to clean some dirt and I noticed a small puddle of coolant soaking up my carpet on my front driver's side. My dad said the heater core is cracked or something. What do you guys think? How hard is it to replace the heater core?

thanks

yep, deff. the heater core.... just to give you an idea of how much you have to take out I attached some of the pics when I did mine. I know it looks like a lot, but if you just take your time and when you take bolts, nuts etc off put them in seperate baggies so you know where they came from its not that hard

Don't assume anything... After pulling my engine for my 5 speed swap, I had a slow leak on the driver's side. It turned out to be a loose hose clamp on the engine side of the firewall that was somehow causing a leak into the cabin - not the heater core. Weird, but true and definitely worth checking out before diving into a heater core swap. Here's the thread I started at the time:

Before you start, make sure it is not just leaking at the hose outlet on the firewall. Coolant can run down from that connection into the dash. I would hate to take the dash out to find it is just the hose connection.

If you've never done it before, start early on Fri. night and hopefully you'll be done Sunday about 4 or 5 am. At least thats how long it took me. Or get buddy to come over and do it, since he figures 5 hrs. Christ, it takes 5 hrs just to crawl over the piles of crap in there.
