Coolant consumption is definitely not normal. You could have a coolant leak. If you aren't losing much it could be very hard to find the leak. When I first got my Supra it had a few phantom leaks. After a while the leak got bad enough to where it showed signs of leaking (built up crust near the leak).

And for the record, the stock cap is not 16psi, it's 13psi. Not really a big difference but it could cause a small leak to be a bigger leak.

The most common spots are the hardest to reach. You could try warming the car up just until the upper radiator hose gets stiff and putting on a heavy pair of gloves. Then try moving around all of the coolant hoses. If the hose is cracked it will spray when you move it to a certain angle.
