Hi, guys.

I'm a proud owner of a 91turbo non-targa with few nice mods. Now I have a crazy idea to convert my non-targa into targa or even convertible. Has anybody heard or done this? Please, share your thoughts.

Thank's..

I have seen a convertable supra. I can't remember where, but it was blue and was in great condition. It almost looked like a convertable rx-7 . Alot of custome work, especially making a trunk on it.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the frame going to need a lot of beefing up just to get it feeling only half as sloppy as a stock targa model? I thought the frames on the stock targas were reinforced quite a lot.

Don't do it. Sell your Supra to someone who appreciates having the hard top for extra rigidity (like someone who does AutoX) and then buy yourself a targa. Then maybe consider converting it to a convertible if you have plenty of money to burn.

I agree, the hardtops are hard to find and despite how I love cruising with the roof off I would take the hardtop for rigidity, weight, rareness, and they're cheaper to insure. Love your hardtop as it is because It will not provide the ideal bracing for a convertible as a Targa would. A convertible must have strong A-pillars that won't fold and crush in an accident. The targa was designed for this but the hardtop has a roof for the support. Removing the roof will take away this support and in the case of a rollover or such incident, well just imagine your entire body being stuffed between your pedals and seat.

I wish I had a complete hardtop. I bought mine with a sunroof that you can't open because it blows the headliner down and you have to watch out for car washes and hard rains.
