I am getting rid of the 2JZ ($3200-$3500) ....With the water in the oil, this really just means more time/$$ (I just don’t have the time). I am willing to pass this on to someone else who can dedicate more time, than what I can right now.

Water in oil, but does not seem from cooling system. Won’t know too much more, until I start to disassemble it. At minimum, I would suggest replacing internals -- rings, bearings, etc (~$359 from Elmhurst Toyota). Oil pump is another ~$150. Basically, add ~$800 for internals, labor, and a turbo and you’re all set.

Will include...
JDM 1999 Supra 2JZ-VVTi engine (with 1JZ mount brackets), harness, ECU, 5-speed tranny (1JZ bellhousing, OS-Giken single plate clutch and pressure plate), single manifold, 5-speed lines/master cylinder, 5-speed pedal set, 2JZ radiator clutch/fan, 2JZ powersteering line, AFM, and whatever random stickers I can find ;-)

I will also have an 89+ front subframe available within a week...

If I find the time to fix it myself, before selling it, it will cost ALOT more. My time is the least resource available right now and I’d rather spend it working on the MKIII and the MKIV, instead of this engine.

Basically, you will have a complete 2JZ drop in for about $4K…. U will not need to modify the firewall or anything else. I will negotiate for some extras, plus $$. Anyone following this swap knows I’ve spent a lot more than what I’m asking for…. I’m not looking to make it all back, but this stuff isn’t going away for free ;-) Not sure yet if I'll part it out.... rather it go as a complete set.

Things I’ll consider for trade…

MKIII/MKIV:
Aftermarket seats (black/blue, with sliders)
Wheels (17x8 front and 17x10 rears)
Koyo/Fluidyne radiator
Cooling panel cover (cover the IC area, between headlights…)
LABOR…

BTW: When I say I'll take labor... it doesn't mean you'll be my ho ;-) :wiggle:

Just some more clarification, so that I ain't gotta repeat myself so much in PMs... Thanx.

It just means that I don't have much time, for much of anything. So, if someone local buys it and can contribute some time/labor it'd take me to do something else, I'll definitely take that.

I still have a 7M to pull, disassemble, get to a machineshop, re-assemble, and install... So, I'd rather spend my time doing that, than working on a 2JZ rebuild... I'll pass that savings on to ya'll.

If/when I get to rebuild the 2JZ, I will pass that cost on to the buyer as well... Since time is what I lack, I will be adding a significant amount of $$ if I have to use alot of my time.

So basically I'm looking for about $3200-$3500 for this (plus shipping). Even tho all of the internals etc only add up to $800 (rings, bearings, oilpump, seals, etc), I'll want about $5K if I rebuild it.... I am in no rush to sell and do not need the money. Just trying to pass on a decent deal to someone else who can afford the time to go into "project" mode for a short time.

I would really love to see this go into an MKIII (soon). Worst case scenario, I'll get another MKIII and drop this in. My son will be turning 15 early next year and he can inherit the 7M/MKIII.... He'll love that :biglaugh:

The 7M rebuild I was working on has run into a snag... I will consider trading this setup (locally hopefully), for a good condition 7MGTE with accessories, plus cash.

The block I was having machined has a crack... so basically need a replacement block, but can actually use some of the other stuff as well (turbo, accessories, etc, etc)... so I'll probably get a replacement JDM 7M setup, if no one jumps on this.

The 2JZ VVTi will make the same amount of power and is tune-able as any other 2JZ. If you use a standalone (as U would with another 2JZ) that is capable of managing VVTi, you'll be fine.... JPI has done it and others too.

Bottom line, if this 2JZ was in your car, you probably still wouldn't be hitting the HP potential where any of that matters or is required. I am positive the stock ECU will easily get you 'round 500HP....

If you want more than that (with any 2JZ), you'll need the supporting mods, which would likely include a standalone, fuel, etc. This was going to be my daily driver, and I was simply going to keep it under 400HP.

For the price & potential, with everything I've got in it, it's a good deal. VVTi is nothing to fear.

yea... but who keeps a 2jz stock? i know i wouldent.
Probably easy enuff to do a poll at SF and see how many of them are running anything over 600RWHP. It would not be that many... again, pound for pound, VVTi will work the same.

The only differences was when the standalones did not have the wasted spark technology and/or tuners did not know how to enable it. I know the stock ECU will easily handle near 600 HP, but anyone going for more (with ANY engine), should use a standalone and have it professionally tuned. Anyone that's interested should just go search VVTi on that forum and do your homework. VVTi is a good thing and an added technology used from 1998.5-2002 in Japan, in the MKIVs. JPI has been successful in tuning standalones (using VVTi)... they are having a Supra meet Nov 5th (I think). Talk to Jason and I'm sure he can explain the details

I got set back this weekend, so it'll be another couple of weeks before I start to rebuild this one. Still a good oppty for someone who's wanting a 2JZ in their MKIII.
