Its actualy lower gears you'll run out of RPMs quicker which mean on the freeway I'll be flying by at 120-130...wait what am I talking about I'll be flying by from the start....good luck. The N/A Lsd is nice for less modded cars and helps off the bottom but kills your top end. I'd say the 393s are the best 87-88 Turbos. Later-T

The non lsd is 4.3 also. and to add to what people are saying to about them... you lower the top speed that is limited by gearing. you actually gain top end acceleration also. look at these top speeds that are limited by gearing http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1087
I dont think i will ever go over 150mph so i dont mind the 4.3. the down falls of a higher ratio rear end is that you get lower miles per gallon. you shift more and traction is harder to get when compared to a lower ratio.

i'm turbo swapped, and since my car was origionally an N/A sport package, i'm still on the w58/4.3 combo. i love it. it accelerates like crazy. and when am i going to be doing 140+mph? probably never. :) if some crazy dude wants to "Beat" me in a race over that speed, let him/her do it. i dont care.

i'm going for a cool 400-420rwhp, and i intend on keeping my 4.3. :)

Im doing the exact same thing as shaeff turbo swapped N/A sport package but im afraid of the w58 breaking you think it will hold around 400hp isnt that the max of them.

dr jonez held 400+ on the w58 for a little bit, with a heavy clutch, and a heavy foot. (clutchmasters stage 4 = very agressive)

D34DC311 w58 will hold till about 350hp, 400 if u baby the crap out of it.
I'm not calling BS or anything i just want to know what you base this on. There are a lot a different variables that its hard to just make a general rule like that, especially if it was based solely on DrJonez.
Plus if that wheel hp or bhp makes a big difference.

I agree with you about the topspeed... but that 430 diff is killer on gas mileage... and since my car is my daily driver I want to get rid of it... it gets up and goes hella faster than the other diffs... but for me I'm not sure if it's worth it... I'd like a 373 or 391...

how much of a diffrence is the 4:30 diff? what im asking is will i see a large drop in 1/4 mile time and 60 foot is it worth the gas millage, for the added preformance, i want a good street supra but speed comes first.

well with my mods (last time I drove it continuosly) I was getting about 250 miles to the tank (untuned, and babyin it), when I was gettin on it a little I was gettin about 175 to the tank... keep in mind this is untuned... as far as the 1/4 times I'm not sure on the exact increase... but I'm sure it would help you...
