Alright i have a question. In the morning or when the car hasnt run in like 5 or 6 hours plus when i try to start it.. it has a really hard time starting it turns over and seems to catch but the rpm stays at like 400 then just dies.... start it again and it will do the same thing then do it again and it will start... Any ideas???? right after i do that i can hear the waterfall behind that dash but only for a couple seconds then goes away...

sometimes when i am going and say i was going and was in gear and switch into neutral it will stall out... any ideas???

Mine does too, but I think my issue is the old sparkplugs. I have at least a year on these plugs...actually, more than that if I can recollect. I'd say not intense enough spark would be the culprit.

Edit*

And fuel pressure... in my case, my car sits for a week or so before getting started.

see but i dont think it is a sprak problem to me it seems like lack of fuel.... because if i push in the gas pedal a couple times it will start really hard but not as hard as if i dont push in the gas pedal to start

My problem was similar. It was diagnosed to be the cold start injector and its timer switch.

I would say this also... mine was doing the same thing and when I looked at the cold start injector it was unplugged...

99 out of 100 Xs it won't be both injector 'and' time switch. You can test both using the TSRM online. Usually it is the time switch. Toyota had some problems with them, and updated them 2-3X.

But...that is probably not why your idle is so low once its running ! The above mentioned items only operate when 'cranking'.

oh your idle is low when running... check your cps... or your tps... those could easily be your problem...

no once i get past it having trouble to start it idles just fine... its that first couple seconds when i try to first start it... thats when it idles really low and just dies on me... after i start it up again the idle shoots way up to normal and runs fine...

My car has same problem if it sits for a 5,6 hrs/overnight. Next time i try to start it it'll crank for a while at low rpms like 400. I just keep cranking and after about 5,6 seconds it starts and takes a while to warm up. Guess ill try cold start injector and timer switch if fooling around with starter cables, which i was told might be the problem, doesnt work.

They should idle at 700rpm + or - 50. 800 is better. When I was making sure my cooling system was gonna be great, I noticed that the coolant was not flowing into radiator much at 600-700rpm. As I slowly raised the idle to 800, it was flowing very good. That told me the water pump does not flow enough at idle, so I set mine to 800. I live in desert, and run a/c most of the time. I want good coolant flow at stoplights. :biglaugh:

good info, thanks for that. Mine is idling at about 650 at the lowest, i can increase it with the ignition timing, should i do it?

Before I did that I'd have a look at my TPS readings with a multimeter per TSRM
and make sure everything was correct there. My experience is that with an idle problem 9 times out of 10 its TPS.
