So this is throwing me for a serious loop here... 87 Supra Turbo 5Spd... fairly fresh motor ~30k since rebuild but it sat for a while before i started driving it. I just took it under my posession recently...
Everything runs great except for when I first start it up after it's sat for a while (6+ hours) it will NEVER start on the first crank. No matter how long i crank it I won't get anything, but then the second try it'll fire up on the 2nd or third revolution. Even if i just turn it over 3 or 4 times the first time it'll start up great the second try. It's not really a big deal to me but it makes the car look ghetto to everyone else
Generally it'll run fine then, some times it'll stutter a little bit pulling up to idle but once it gets there it'll hold it find and it doesn't spontaneously crap out ever... it bucks pretty hard at low rpm though (500 ish) but I don't know if that's characteristic of these or not, i'm mostly used to straight and flat 4's but I would expect it to be less of a problem on a straight six :X
I'm guessing it's a problem with one of the ignition components needing to "warm up" before it works right... but that's just a guess by me... who knows very little about such things. The plugs are pretty fresh but I haven't checked them, i'll do that tonight I think. Doesn't throw any codes (except fuel cut ocassionally :X ).
It has an SAFC and I thought that maybe the startup procedure on that might be interfering... but even if I let the SAFC start up all the way it still behaves the same way. Once it's warm it'll start first try every time.
I'm just wondering what parts are common failure items on these :X
Thanks guys.
