I want a K&N, cold air intake kit, or something similar, but I haven't been able to find one, for the 7M-GE. Does anyone know where I can get one, or a kit for another engine that works well with the 7M-GE?

I responeded to your thread in Socal with a pic of my old setup. It is not smoglegal but whocares cause it is just an airfilter relocated behind the fog light.

I believe the adapter at the AFM or MAF on the GE and GTEs are different. I had an HKS foam filter that no longer fits my NA. So I got a K & N FIPK (or what ever its called).
Personally I would save a little money and just get an adapter to the MAF and buy an off the self K & N filter to fit. The FIPK is expensive for what you get. Suprasport carries a LIPP adapter. But it might be for the GTE. You might give them a ring and find out

CAI's for our cars aren't too common, but IMO it's just a pipe, you can make your own really easy and its the same thing just not smog legal. AEM or alike intakes are a waste of money to me, a pipe is a pipe just throw on a k&N Filter and youv got a great setup.

im not talking about a drop in filter, the full CAI can be an automatic smog fail in many areas, unless it has carb CERT. and a DIY cold air wont have CARB CERT.

Theres is no cold air kit, they dont even make a pipe to replace the accordian hose :nono:, its a shame really. As For the k&n FIPK kit its a little pricey but its worth it.To verify, yes the adapters for the gte and ge are different, i know because i got a gte adapter by mistake. The fipk kit is carb legal and you even recieve a carb excempt sticker upon purchase. As for a cold air kit you can use the fipk front half and then you can do the "civic intake mod" off ebay. You get the 96 kit and use the piping and and hacksaw to shorten the bend and go from there. For more information search "civic inake mod" or something of the like and you should find a quick answer

So if I have the Honda Civic intake mod, it won't be smog legal?

Hum, that's really helpful. I was thinking about doing something like that, but I didn't want to blow money on stuff that hadn't been tested, but I've heard similar, from a couple people, so I think it's worth a try.

Well there is always a way to work around the man. You wouldnt be able to get an el cheapo ebay intake, but you could get a nicer intake that does have carb exemption status and use it on your car. Or just cheap out and get an ebay unit and swap your stock components back in when you need to get inspected. It shouldnt take you any longer than 10-15 min to do so.

Still wondering why anyone is bothering to do this?

If you've modded your NA to the point it's out flowing the stock AirBox fine but you're not going to get much better in Filtration then the stock Paper element and it flows more than enough.

Or is this just a fashion thing?

its more like a sound thing IJ. The stock piping and filter may flow quite well, but it definitely will not give you that deep sound that a nicely made intake will produce.

Are you being serious?
(Not really sure if you're joking or not)

Well, I already have the K&N FIPK. Are you talking about the black piping between the AFM and the throttle body?
