Coilovers suck, I'm running pep boys shocks and cut springs, I couldn't be happier. Then again I am running no sway bars, that might make it hard to compare...

Tein flex, only put about 500 miles on em before my car went down... Corners flat, not bouncey. Full hard is more than enough for aggressive driving on on ramps while the softest setting is nice for freeway cruising. EDFC makes life nice too! Sorry as I don't have too much experience, but so far I am very pleased.

I have JIC flt-2's (stiffer than the a2's, springs are 14/10 in think). they are 16 way adjustable, independent height and pre-load adjustable. They are stiff (no lies); i have the shocks set 12 clicks (front) and 10(rear). I also have about 3/4" cut off the bump stop all the way around (to increase travel). I live in the mountains and they work great (very little front dive, yet good squat in the rear). Big bumps and holes in the road suck, but it transformed the car from a GT to more of a true sports car. Would i do it again? you bet. i would choose a softer spring set-up or a shock with more travel IF i did it again.

Hope this helps.

Tubbie: My Ohlins supplier says they don't exist for a Mk3 do you have a part number?

Nate: Thanks they're on the short list!

I went and had a chat with one of my suppliers and I can have a set of adjustable perches new uprated springs and the shocks valved to suit for less than half the price of a set of Coilovers so I'm considering this as an alternative.

The beauty of this approach is all the parts are available locally so if I need to change/rebuild anything it makes it easier.

Thought the car was done, Ian? lol
I, personally, would like some SilkRoad coilovers or JIC. I remember hearing good things, really good things, about the SilkRoad's from Jeff...

Does anyone else have any experience with the Flex/EDFC combo?
I guess my response wasn't good enough... I know, I have limited experience... The edfc is awesome, go from mild to wild in one push of a button. 32 adjustment points, 3 saved settings, control front and reat seperately. Keep it soft for a nice ride, see some twisties, hit one button and youre ready to go!

I know you won't listen to me anyway:tdo3:

Ok after much research and asking as many questions as I can and speaking with a few of the local suspension tuners here in Australia I'm going for a set of externaly adjustable Koni's custom valved to match the spring rates I choose with height adjustable hardware and Eibach Coilover springs!

Now the discussion can shift to "What Spring Rates are you guys running and would you go harder/softer given the choice?"

Thanks!

CK: My Aussie Ohlins distributor keeps telling me they don't exist for a Mk3!

Allan: Nope I'll stick with my Koni guys they're on the right track and have been doing this long enough so should have an idea.
(Spent 20 minutes on the phone with Andrew V this morning and he suggested giving my Koni guys a ring as they've done a lot of work for him on the race cars)

Nick: Not sure if you're taking the piss but this car on stock springsNshocks would be horrific!

Spring Rates.
Did the sums on the springs I'm currently using and they're marshmellow soft so at this point I'm leaning towards 12/10's a little stiffer in the rear to cope with the Larger Heavier fuel tank.
