hey guys, completely new to this forum. I need some help with coilover suggestions.

here goes. and i hope this is the right section. sorry it's a semi long read...

Anyways, Finally got some cash on my hands and my 4x4 mk3 supra is ready to be slammed. Problem is... I can only afford the entry level coilovers and not those high end sexy beasts. Thus, I had to narrow down to the $1000~ish or less coilovers. (mind you I'm from Canada so the prices are in CAD... haha).

What I expect these coilovers to do?
First of, my supra is my daily driver so I need it to be comfortable enough for street (I'm very tolerant... so feeling every other bump on the road I'm okay with ), but I will be doing some road course tracking and auto x later in the future so stiff suspension is preferable... (nothing serious so i don't need those high end D1 set ups)
Second, I need them to go low. My car runs the eibach lowering springs... but the height is still high. i need at least a 3inch drop at the back and a 1 inch drop in the front (maybe more :? ).
Third, Reliable, I want to get a setup that will last me for a LONG time. I want to do it right the first time with my given budget :p.

so yesh,
Options that I can go with are:

Tein SS - 1100
D2 coilover- 1020
Megan racing track series - 920
JIC sf1 -900
Cxracing-800
God speed - 700
random ebay - 650

All these prices include shipping and handling.

I did "some" hw one these, and well here's what I found out..

Tein ss- WELL known brand and very popular, however as i heard, the drop isn't that great and ya.. its' Teins so over rpiced for what u are paying for?

D2 coil overs- overall very good, but i dont know.. haven't heard much about them ..

Megan racing - "2 thumbs up" everyone in the 240 drift community says its' amazing, few friends of mine who owns a set says it's good for the price and great as a daily. So far I haven't heard anything bad about them hahah.

JIC sf1- originally priced at 1600 CAD but now its' going for 900. I heard that its' for "street" use but some people who owns it says they are more track then street (which I like). JIC name, reduced price, good reviews, ya.. tempting. only down side is the dampening is not adjustable.. so fixed dampening.

Cxracing, godspeed, random ebay - honestly.. these are just to see how cheap i can go.. but i love my car and i dont want to cheap out on suspension, so unless they are quality products, i dont think i will go with them LOL, but then i'm on a college budget who is willing to do anythign (almost anythign) to slam my car.... so... LOL.

in conclusion
I might be getting the megan's or the JIC... since both are of similar price.. Let me know what you guys think? Give me inputs? other options? Anything that will help me do a good buy !

Also, the megans and JIC, is it truly worth it? megans have 32 way adjustable dampening and much higher spring rates. They were made for track and can be street able since the dampening is adjustable. However, JIC's spring rates are of the 12k front and 9k rear.. which is softer then megans, 18k front and 14k rear so its' more street able, but yet you can track them to some extent, but con is they aren't adjustable. So is it worth giving up the adjust-ability for the sake of the name? looks of the coilover? softer spring rate? and also "reliability" of the brand?

Thanks, please help me out ><''

again i might get alot of hate on this since it seems like i'm hardparking my mk3... but in all honesty i'm trying not to.. i just love the way a slammed mk3 looks and with a aggressive stance, to me its' beauty so hate if u want, but please help me out..

I bought and installed a set of Godspeed Type RS on my '89T and three of the four seem to be OK. The ride is a little stiff, but my problem is that the fourth has a broken damper adjustment (on the FL of the car) and rides as such (which is also causing me to damage my tire and fender). These were not shipped with any documentation whatsoever so you are left to set these up on your own. The preloads were all different on each of the four, with one spring actually being completely unloaded. It took me about two weeks to get these set up and I am still having problems with the FR unit keeping the preload set. I got these from an Ebay vendor and he will not swap a good unit for the one that was broken (he will sell me a replacement for another $120.00), Godspeed referred me to Megan and Megan claims to know nothing about these RS coilovers. I would suggest staying away from these. They are inexpensive, but most times the inexpensive parts end up costing you the most.

I've been running Megans for about a year or so of 'on the road' time that my car's been, well, on the road. Can't say I have any complaints, honestly. They're not *quite* as stiff as my Eibach/Koni yellow setup was, but the adjustability is nice, particularly if you live somewhere where crappy road conditions exist. In AZ, where I used to live and bought the car, the low height was no trouble, and a lot of fun. Here in Wyoming however, being too low = broken lips.

Personally, if it were my money, I'd be giving the JIC's a shot, I hear good things from the couple Mk3 owners I know with them. They don't daily their cars like I do though, and I unfortunately have no experience with them myself. If you're looking for handling though, look into ST or Tanabe sway bars. ;)

depressing. I actually have it down to megans. but the CAD is just way to low for me at this point. So I couldn't do any purchasing.
At this moment if the CAD goes up then I'm going to go with the megans, if not i will wait and might opt for Grimsta's Zankoku Performance coils... thanks for the help!

JIC's I've heard good things as well, but since its' fixed rate.. it's not something i would want. Teins on the other hand won't give me the drop i need. Godspeed is complete hit and miss. D2 i heard mix messages about them, but ya they seem good too. And I've cut my budget down to no more then 950. D:
