Okay, about a month ago, I got the code 52 and the car drove like shit, and I got the knock sensor rewire kit from Shaeff. I installed that and no more code 52 and car drove great. Well between yesterday and today my car has thrown the code 52 three times but it drives fine. It just runs really rich, which I will get to in a minute. What causes the car to throw the code yet still drive normal? If the knock sensors were bad would it drive normal or would it go into the limp mode?
On the other note, my car is burning nothing but black smoke it seems unless I go wot, then it will clear up. But just idling or cruising, it will start to stumble and I will see the black smoke in the mirror. My question is would my Oxygen sensor cause this. When I swapped downpipes, my oxygen sensor banged into my valve covers. Not really hard but a distinctive sound of it hitting metal. Can that damage an oxygen sensor? Would my car throw the code for the oxygen sensor if it was damaged? Is there something else that could cause the car to run so rich and stumble at lower RPMs?
Im sorry for the long post and all the questions but given the help Ive received here before, I knew this was the place to ask. My mechanic seems to go "off the top of his head" on most of my problems.
Thanks,
Brandon
