ok... if one of you can solve my code 52 you can have the choice of having one of these two badges i have

front grill
twinturbo8688.jpg

or
86-88 rear
3.0gtturbo86-88rear.jpg

so here we go

get code... any time any way... go above 2500rpm it pops on

did rewire... done all correctly, proper earths, no shorts etc
didn't change
swapped harness...
didn't change
swapped engines in the meantime 3 times lol (other reasons)
no change
swapped knock sensors 4 times
no change
swapped ecu's twice
no change

i went thru the old harness.. knock sensor circuit is perfect... earths are earthing, no breaks etc etc etc... the harness is in dang good condition

i don't know what is causing this code 52
here's the strange thing... all started when we initialised the safc
fellow mk4 owner has the same problem also... was fine... till safc was initialised.. now we have random code 52 problems

so as said above
if any of you can CURE code 52 on our cars.. i will send you one of the above badges i have

thanks :D

Hmmm... Double check your s-afc install? Are you using just the s-afc or the s-afc II... some people for the s-afc II are using the wrong install guide... I have put together a little bitmap of what the correct one is.. (for 86-88)....If it is the s-afc II the purple wire goes to the knock sensor; for the 86-88 there are two different ones so if one fails; try the other.. reset ecu and go from there... =)

Hope that helps!

oh god.. sorry i forgot one very important thing

this is on a godly 1jz LOL
we're using safc2's and went via the book for installs, both on the 1j and 2j

and on the 1j the purple wire is not even connected... not too sure bout the 2jz

thanks :)

Hmm... Double check your s-afc II installs? If it only happens when you install them; then that is where I would troubleshoot.

Did you set:
Sensor type
Sensor number setting
Number-of-cylinders setting

Did you check/verify:
Throttle sensor voltage
Throttle sensor type
Throttle learning
Knocking signal correction???????????????????????

safc2's are both installed correctly... both cars were fine with it installed... problems started when safc2 was initialised

i set everything by the book for the 1.5j.. purple wire is not even connected

i did get given a good idea by ma70.. see if the tacho wire was close to the ks wires.. maybe there were interfering... i've since wrapped them all up in insulation tape in the hopes this would work to stop interference.. not sure if it would actually be successful but cel still came back

comes on immediately as soon as you hit 2500rpm

thanks for your input :)

Agree with GrimJack, make sure u got Coaxial... If you dont have the right cable, chances are the signal wont be right. Forgot the damn code for the right Coaxial cable, ill get it if you think u got the wrong one..let me know

the problem with coax-cable for tv's is that it is a solid conducter.you should use a cable that is stranded.i installed my safc II,i didn't wire the knock sensor circuit.no cel on either.i'm willing to bet its the rg6 cable you used

well... that may be... but LOL

since then we've changed harnesses as well... and actual circuit seems to check out

what resistance or voltage should i be getting if i check the ecu end of the knock sensor wires?

also i jumpered the knock sensors together and this time it took till 3500rpm for the cel to come on

1JZS EQUAL  LOL

eh, i use solid core copper cable in the knock sensor rewire kit i make. (7mgte/ge) it's been working flawlessly for months, and my little 'harness' for the KS's isnt even secured in my car. it bounces all over the place. i'm going with NO, the tv coax is NOT the problem. :)

well... tomorrow i'm gonna jump the two knock sensors together on the engine side and see what happens.. i temporarily jumped them at the ecu but they weren't secure... altho it did look promising.. the light didn't come on till 3500rpm..not sure if the wire lost connection and that's why the light came on then or what

but yea... so jumping ks's together is bert(boostaddctn) idea :)

so i'll do that and with any luck it'll tell me if at least one is working

many people have had issues with the coax.i wish i could give you a resistance #,it will be different between a stranded and solid copper conductor.stranded would also give you less chance of failer.good luck
keith
p.s. i already have a 2.5 twin turbo badge for my supra,so i was just giving my opinion.as i can send you wire that would be better than that shit.
