Hello all,

I have only one code left to troubleshoot and it is 51. First I checked that it was not related to the A/C, car is manual. Then I jumped the terminals at the harness when unplugged from the sensor and the code was gone, so I proceeded to calibrate it. I removed the throttle body and made sure the throttle plate was fully closed; also that the stop screw was properly adjusted. I then started the calibration process, using an old hardness for ease, with the following results:

IDL - E2 = 520-550 ohms (0mm)
IDL - E2 = 80 - 85 ohms (.5mm)
IDL - E2 = no continuity (.9mm)
VTL - E2 = 725 ohms (0mm)

Going by the TSRM, I should also get a resistance value between VTL - E2 (full throttle) and VC -E2. Both of these result in no continuity. Is this an issue?

Also, when measuring the other resistances I stated, the digital multimeter does not read a fixed value. It oscillates between the upper and lower values provided. Could this be related to the idle going up and down?

I'm debating if I should use this TPS or buy a new one.

Thank you,

Tomás

Verify that you have the multimeter in the correct range for the VC/VTL-E2 checks.
Some multimeters cut at 2000ohms, and you need to select the next range value.

Do I feel like an idiot! You are correct Supraguy, I did not switch the meter from 2k to 20k. The readings are now within spec:

VTA - E2 = 5220 ohms (full throttle)
VC - E2 = 7190 ohms

Thank you for saving me time and money!
