According to the TSRM removing the HAC will result in it's own code, a 35. Either way, try plugging the HAC back in, resetting the ECU, and see if the code goes away.
The AFM has both a temperature sensor and an air flow sensor in it. The way to check if you have a bad AFM is to pull it off the car and take a ohm meter to it. The specific resistance of the various channels should be given in the TSRM:
code 24=bad afm, afm circuit wiring or ecu. Check the afm sensor with a multimeter or swap it out for a different one and work your way up. Most times its just the afm sensor.
