Code 13

Can anyone give any input on Code 13 on the 1jz. I have a new crank sensor, a new rear cam sensor, and replaced the front cam sensor as well with a used but seeming good one. All sensors read according to specs on the multimeter. There is continuity in all the wires. I have 2 ecu's (one is recapped while one isn't) and I get Code 13 with both of them. There seems to be an intermittent miss at idle and under load. Car breaks up under boost and pings.

The only other things we can figure is timing is off or crank or cam sensor trigger wheels are messed up. We're not sure that makes sense though as we think the miss would probably be steady then.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I had the wire from the crank sensor running too close to the alternator and it gave me a code 13.
Idk.

Posting this so it hopefully helps someone else in the future.

Timing was out. That was problem # 1. Problem 2 - I also found out that your 1jz can throw code 13 and code 31 because of a bad connection with the fuel injector wires. My 1 & 4 injector driver wire connection was intermittently bad and caused the car to run like crap sometimes and throw 1 or 2 of these codes.

You then think you may have a bad map sensor, and there is no other reason for getting a code 13 when you have new cam and crank sensors. Kind of sucks, right? I asked the Lord for help because we were stumped. Thankfully He showed us the wire problem. Never would have found it otherwise.

When Jesus diagnoses your engine issues, is that like OBDIII or something? :)

Nice find, and thanks for sharing the results with us.

Dingoboy - you definitely made me laugh with that one. Yeah, Jesus helps with 1jz's too. I guess it's like OOBD (Omniscient On Board Diagnostics), lol. :biglaugh:

Hopefully it will help someone else.
