well I got my car back and its running stronger then every. went to a near by town to visit some friends and one of them happend to have one of the new cobalt SS with the supercharger. So I say hey want to go at a run he says sure. So we do 2 races, First one I get a good jump off the line and manage to hold a car length on him and then he sopusly misses 3rd and goes into 5th and I end up beating him by liek 2 car lengths. 2nd race I get another good jump on him by about a car length but this time he doesn't miss any shift, by about 3rd or 4th gear he slowly starts to pull ahead of me. Im sure if we were doing an accurat quarter mile I would have beaten him both times as the second time it took him to about 100 mph to start to pass me. I though for sure I would losses as I hear thoses new cobalt SS are very fast but it seems as first gear in them is usless as they sping soo bad so there hard to launch. Either way im glad that I won one of the races.

my mods are only this:
drop in K&n filter and a 3 inch downpipe.

Nice run.

Get some fuel to that thing, gut the cats, and bump up the boost to 14psi.

He won't bother you ever again.
I have no cats and resonators on the car they are all removed. I plan on getting a mbc and a better boost guage but thats after I put on my mystery ct-26

I don't think they are as good as the SRT-4. The neons can be pretty serious, the ION and Cobolt are sorry atempts at Dodge's market. Nice run tho, theres one at my school I should run.

ummmm.....those things are slow. I raced one with a stock open downpipe, intake, and 10psi..... and pulled him so bad, let off and gave up. By 80 mph, I had at least 10 car lengths on him.....soon after that, he let off.

hmm techinaclly there nothing to really laugh at. Sopuses to be direct competion with the SRT-4(they run like .1 or .2 seconds slower in the quarter mile). They run like mid 14s in the quartermile stock compared to our low 15's so thats nothing to laugh at. Though the aftermarket for them has just started and nothing is really out for them yet. K&n just realesed a air filter for them but there on huge back order as there is a big demand for them. pretty much the only performance mod that has been realesed yet. Give them after jan or something and the aftermarket will probaly pick up alot. Also chevy is realesing staged kits for them simailr to dodges kits for the SRT-4

The Cobalt SS is nothing to worry about. In a year or so, maybe a few will pop up. However, you have to remember that the majority of the owners won't have the money to purchase the 'performance' parts being offered for it, with their bloated pricing. Now, that said...the random older guys and gals that buy it and have the money, will make several nasty examples.

It's like every other car, you'll always come across a freakishly fast one at the most inopertune time. So trash talk...at a minimum.

Its a front wheel drive four cylinder....I refuse to be afraid... If someone makes a big wad of power from it, they will still get own3d by traction. By the time they do get the tires to stick, the supra will be several lengths ahead....

Read above as: I have enough hp that there isn't one around here for me to worry about and won't be for many years

I thought the cobalt are only like 210hp and 15 sec. 1/4 I know our cars stock run faster then that. I could swear they had testers running mid 14s. Maybe not.

There 205 hp and 200 lb/tq they run 12psi of boost on there supercharger when the engine is finally broke in until then it only runs 10psi. The thing that confuses me is that they aren’t designed to reach full boost until 3800 rpm I've seen it earlier but that is what chevy clams. What a waste of a supercharger. And on top of every thing else they wheel hop like there is no tomorrow. It takes a little practice to figure out how to not get the front end to turn in to a pogo stick every time you shift. My friend just bought one and It’s a decent little car, much better built than the SRT-4 even if its not as fast(sort of). The Cobalt is quicker to 50 mph but then the SRT-4 takes over from there, but the numbers are still very close. It’s a nice car but I would still take my supra over it any day. The cool thing about them though is that nobody has really seen what they can do and what the engine can take. The 5-speed they come with is a Getreg, which I though that was cool. But all they really have out at the moment for aftermarket is different sized pulleys for the Eaton supercharger.
