I bought a Sachs Super clutch set for my 1987 Turbo supra. It's a five speed. The guy from schucks used to own a mkIII and he sounded like he knew what he was talking a bout so I'm sure he got me the right clutch. Well I gave the clutch to my mechanic and he says that it is the wrong clutch because the one he removed from the car is in one piece and the one I gave him is in two. The kit I bought cam with the pressure plate and the clutch disk. My question is, did I buy the wrong clutch kit or is my mechanic wrong? Thanks

sounds like you need a new mechanic! Either he was smoking something when he removed the old one, or you welded you disc to the flywheel. Either way, he should be able to figure it out. I've never seen a clutch system that worked on a pressure plate alone.

Yep same story here. I bought my clutch from Napa and it turned out to be a w58 clutch; the pressure plate was so wimpy looking compared to the stock one.

Yeah, I work for NAPA and just double checked the listing on it. Sounds like you got a clutch listed for the 7MGE rather than the 7MGTE. Anytime you buy parts make sure they know your car is the Turbo model. I just had to buy one myself.
As far as the One Piece Clutch? Um, I have to agree with ForcedTorque... Or maybe the guy was just having a bad day when he looked at it.

People at schucks don't know shit... about anything auto related. I'm sure your problem is with the part and not the mechanic.
