I have a new stock clutch, pressure plate, tob and resurfaced flywheel. But I have finally tuned my safr and with all my cumulative mods, I appear to be exceeding the capabilities of my clutch. I am slipping badly, as you can see in the graph, and this weekend, while out taking gtech hp run logs I could smell it burning very badly. Smelt like burning brake pads. It's not brake pads.

My question is: Can I get away with just replacing the clutch disk?

I ask this because my flywheel has already been resurfaced. Does it need it again?

I am planning on going with Spec Stage2. Spec replied to an email to tell me that all their kits, up to stage three, use the same pressure plate. Can I just use my stock PP? or should I get the whole kit?

One thing I've wondered about, could the pedal be out of adjustment? Is the clutch slave not fully disengaging, causing clutch slippage? Easy thing to check, and could be a free fix...

Otherwise, I'm in the same boat. On a cold night my 20k mi old stock clutch slips at WOT in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and I'd like to upgrade just the disc if possible, because I can't afford to spend $1000 on a flywheel, pressure plate, disc, etc that can handle my basic mods. I'd love to do it, but I have a feeling I wouldn't live to enjoy it...

I'm still on stock fuel on a stock ct (@ maybe 7.5 psi), so I wonder why I'd need a stronger than stock clutch.

I went against the norm and used my stock disc along with a 30% stronger pressure plate and have never had another slippage issue.. I am happy with it..

I was slipping due to too much HP, and not a warn out disc.

Yes, I had a shop pull the pins and resurface it just to be safe. They said they only removed a few thousands of an inch.

I'm fairly sure my problem is not the master or slave cylinder. Both are new. Fresh clean fluid too :)
I don't think I would have that burnt smell, if it was either of those either.

You are prop. exceeding the holding capacity of the stock PP, You may need to resurface the flywheel if damage hase been done from the slipping or you may not. Upgrade your PP and replace the disk while you have it apart.
