He'll need both. The hardlines come from the master cylinder down to the bottom of the firewall. The soft line connects the hardlines to the slave cylinder.

You can either source them through a junkyard (I think this is the place I'm gonna get mine from). You can order them from a Toyota dealer (probably pretty expensive). You could even just buy a length (not sure how much you'd need) of brake line and and have it bent (or bend it) to work.

I'd stick with option 1 or 2 unless you know what you are doing...it doesn't sound like the shop that is doing the work feels comfortable w/ option 3 or they would have already put it to you.

I have a new braided stainless teflon jacketed clutch line ($40) and I can supply the hardline too ($12?). I also have the master and slave cylinders brand new for $55 and $45 ea, Aisin brand, same exactly as from the dealer. It's a good idea not to go used for the master and slave as most of the old ones leak.

^ See, there is a good source. :D

On a side note: I wasn't condoning the use of used master/slave cylinders...just the hardlines. :D

That's what I figured you meant. :icon_wink
The slaves are usually good for a while but most of the cars we see now with the origional master are leaking, and it leaks inside the car.
