Hows it going guys, just got my second supra. My first supra was an 87 N/A that i had for a little over a year and sold it last summer. Recently I was driving around town and I came across another 87 supra that looked like it had been sitting for months!!!! So I decided to stop by and ask, the next morning I had the car on my trailer and home in no time. Ive had the car for about a month now and its been work..... none the less my goal is to be pushing about 350 and 10-12psi. So this is my build up, Im from Clovis California and the entire 15 years ive lived here I have not seen very many MKIII's I hope to change that.
Here was the car as it first sat, it cranked over but wouldnt start.
Opened it up and found milky oil.... I thought I had an infamous BHG.
I checked compression on all cylinders and found that cylinder 5 was dead and cylinder 6 was low. I was determined to get the car running even with a BHG, so i checked all the other necessary things for a car to run and everything checked out ok so i gave up for the day. The next day I went out and tried again to get it started and realized that I wasn't smelling anymore fuel, so i decided to unbolt the cold start injector and there was no fuel coming through, I pulled down the tank and fuel pump had seized and the fuel tank was completely rusted. I grab another fuel tank and another fuel pump and after getting it all put back together and it started up perfectly, no shake at all, I checked compression once more and found that all cylinders were back up to normal again.
The car was missing a MAF and the upper IC piping from the 3000 pipe to the fender luckily arknotts had one that I purchased from him and a friend of mine had an extra AFM once those pieces come in ill be back to work at the engine side of things.
During moving the car a couple times i noticed that something felt really really loose under the car so i put it on jack stands and got under to take a look, my entire rear subframe was broken and the differential was being held by only 1 bolt.... Seems like I have a lot of work before I get to my goal.
