I just got off the phone with venus after hearing about how someone picked up a 1jz clip with 5 speed for $1800. They said all of those clips are sold, then they had a few for $2000 that are all gone, and the next batch that comes in will cost $2500. Wtf???? THe lady said that new laws were passed in japan that make it more difficult to get clips so all the prices are going to go up...

Is this true or will I be able to wait until next summer and still get a clip at a reasonable price?

hah, wierd, my recent research shows prices were on the drop, a full swap out of engine was getting as low as 1100 US before shipping. that was with a A/T though. perhaps duties and tax getting the clips out of japan is going up, or maybe there beginning to get shafted on shipping, what with fuel skyrocketing these days.

Does anyone know when Venus is getting more clips? Their website says they are supposed to arrive 9/28, but they haven't received them yet.

I couldn't understand the guy on the phone, he said "next month." I asked when next month but I couldn't understand him..

there gettin more expensive because of the demand for them, everyones jumpin on the 1j wagon :biglaugh:

Until the price of a 1JZ clip is the same as a 2JZ clip, at which point there would be no point going to a 1JZ.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 1JZ. But if the price were equal for a 1JZ and a 2JZ, I would jump on the 2JZ in a heartbeat. Yes, that is opinion. And I'd be willing to bet 90% of people in that situation would also choose the 2JZ, if for nothing else than readily available parts at your local parts stores and dealerships.

You are right, Joe. I agree, its all been done before. I don't think you pick a Supra as your project car if you are looking for something that is truly unique :)

Maybe they just realized that Jarco is selling high quality clips for literally 2x their price, and that Jarco is still getting more business..
Maybe Venus thinks they can make a profit from this. Let's just hope the quality of service stays the same, and the quality of clips goes up. I've heard that after they moved, they have gotten a bit better, but Jarco is going to be hard to beat in quality. I think that Venus had a good amount of business because of their sale prices, but who knows what will happen now?

I agree w/ the cat on the indo. Getting a 1jz myself :biglaugh: when the next batch comes in from JARCO. Michael went to Japan so hopefully he'll come up on something. True you pay more ($2500) for me but I believe if you're going to do something do it right the first time so there's no regrets. But for this price i get a 12 month warr plus the shop I'm dealing with is going to add 6 months on top of that because they know JARCO=top quality. That's 18 months 100% worry free for me hell for the V8s :evil2: . So anything short of totaling the car the clip gets replaced no charge. The other shops charge less but you only get 1 or 2 months warr with a list of exceptions.
