climate control and dash lights

ok i believe i have a short in the system when i turn on the lights the dash ligths don't work and the climate control lights go off. everything still worksits just i can't see anything .when i first turn the lights on it stay on for a half a second and turns off does anyone kno which wire it is that controls the dash lights?

check your dimmer switch

Another vote for the dimmer switch. When you kick the headlights on the dimmer switch is controlling the illumination intensity for the dash lights, climate control, stock radio, and if you're got an auto, I believe the gear indicator as well. The climate control lights are going out because they are dimmer when the lights are on.

ok so i took apart the dimmer switch and every thing looks good but i noticed that even with the dimmer switch disconnected it does the same exact thing the dash light flash for a half a second when i turn the running and headlights on theres been times driving if i hit a bump they'll stay on for a while

theres probly a bad fuse or theres a connections behind the dash that is lose pain but check all
