I was curious to know if anyone can help me with a problem I might have with my newly swapped 7mgte engine that has less than 60k for my 87 supra. Sometimes as i switch between gears I can hear a clicking noise beneath the car, My mechanic said that It's a lose drive shaft or something but he said it will be alright. I just find it annoying and if it could possibly be fixed for cheap, or would it be future problem.

Could be worn U-joint(s)

Could be LSD going out

Could just be LSD noise

Do you have the interior in? can you hear it when you are in the car? or only from the outside? is it a clunk or a grind noise? happens between all gears?

You could try changing the diff fluid to the Ford Non-LSD plus the ford friction modifier

Thanks for the reply sir, I hear the clunk from inside my car. The noise occurs after the shift a little after I gas. I hear it from here and there but when I'm extra careful with shifting I can avoid it sometimes also adding on i can hear it from the outside

I would check that the carrier bearing is Tight as well as your well as the rear trans mount and all the bolts on driveshaft. If you can have car on lift or jackstands and see if you can hear or see anything move while shifting. You can make some load by lightly appling the parking brake.

First thing I would do it check your U-Joints

thanks for the response, I had a talk with my mechanic and he said that that could be the problem but the car will be fine until i can afford to fix it.

Sounds transmission related.

drain the fluid and look for metal...remove the fill plug first before the drain plug
