the issue with the maf cleaner and brake cleaner is it leaves a residue on the mirror. If your 100% it wont leave a residue,, go for it. A used one is only $50 or so :)

DISCLAIMER: If you screw up your shit doing this, don't bitch at me.

-Remove the electronics. Don't loose the o-rings (one is caprive, the other is not).
-Use alcohol and q-tips to clean the vortex pillar and air temp sensor (CAREFUL NOT TO GET ANY IN THE HOLES AT THE TOP)
-Clean the hell out of the housing with whatever you want, but do NOT damage the honeycomb

Let it all dry and then reassemble. I've noticed there may be some buildup on the pillar form various issues (blowby, turbo, crappy air filter) and as the pillar creates the vortex that is read, if the pillar isn't the shape it needs to be becaue of buildup it's not going to read right (my opinion, but my car ran much better after cleaning it).
