I really don't want to beat this dead horse, but i'm looking into buying a head gasket soon. I'll be running a 60-1 .60 a/r cold side, .69 on center hotside at around 25psi. I just might get guttsy and push it up to 30psi. I'll hopefully tune my car to around 500rwhp. Now i've heard about the HKS stopper being the one to run when pushing alot of boost. Now is that 30psi on a large Tseries turbo, or any turbo. Will a plain 'ole HKS bead, Cometic, or Greddy do for my application?

Oh, and I'll be going with ARP fastners for the head and rods. Should I get ARP's for the mains as well? I've read somewhere that their main studs had fitment issues with the stock oil pump. Did ARP resolve that issue? Or should I just stick with stock bolts? Has anyone ever heard of stock main bolt failures at 500-550rwhp levels? I just don't want to throw money at my car. I'm trying to safely stretch my dollar on this build up. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Well first the headgasket really depends on how well you surface the block and head.

The HKS stopper type (or most stopper type IIRC) require you to o ring the block. This is not cheap.

If the surface on the deck of the block and head are good to go and or newly machined - go with the Commetic. I have ran them in race cars over 1000hp and have yet to had one fail. I had my commetic fail but it was after 4.5 years, 400hp, and I had forgotten to retorque the head bolts.

As for ARP hardware - Stock main bolts are ok and will work, but its all about insurance. 100% go for the arp head bolts/studs and rod bolts.

^^ i didn't think you had to o ring the block to use the stopper.

I have a friend using it, and his block is not o ringed
