Check Engine Light!!!!!

Well my check engine light is on, and i don't know why. Well my car was running like crap and was running really rich!!! the only codes im throwing are code 22 and code 51. Since my check engine light on my car has a really hard time starting when cold, but now the car is running like a champ :icon_conf
If you guys have any suggestions feel free. I would like to get this cleared since im gonna be doing a smog check.

Well i had those codes for a while but now my check engine light is on, And now its running really good i know what the codes mean i know i need a tps and a new water temp sensor but i want to know what could of made my check engine light all of a sudden turn on?

just because u have the code doesn't mean the part is bad.
the check engine light stays on?
have you checked for codes since it started running better?

Check engine light is on.. Welcome to the club we have jackets...

I agree with antman. The part could be ok and there could be another problem with the connection to that part. Before you buy parts re-check the codes now that its running better and post if they are the same.

Agreed with both JM and Ant,
I have code 22 right now as well and it will barely idle when I first start her in the morning, but once she warms up, she's just fine.
But the reason I have code 22 is wiring, it's all screwed up on the connector, so I think only one of the wires is touching the sensor. Definately check your wiring.

I had it before it started to run like crap and i still have the codes now, I also resseted the ecu several times.

i just noticed my ecu temp sensor connections are broken will that make the light go on?

as I stated in my first post, my wiring on mine is all screwed up causing this code.

GET THE TPS FIXED!!!!

lol...but seriously, in my experience, the CEL may or may not come on sometimes....when my o2 sensor wasn't connected (I didn't know it wasn't), it would throw a code, but no CEL, then randomly when I would be driving, the CEL would come on, stay on for a while, and then turn off...

i know im gonna go get that tps fixed soon, waiting on some money they owe me, anyhow like i said since my cars check engine light been on my car does not run rich and its running better than ever. My car has to crank like for 1 min b4 it starts lol well thanks for the reply. Hey John i gotta show you that sensor that broke off.

Yea, get it fixed, and maybe you can get a temp. sensor from Aaron while you're there like I did...(mine broke off too). Which temp. sensor are you talking about? The one on top of the thermo. housing, or the one farther down behind the ps reservoir?
