when you remove the charcoal canister, should you just cap off the fitting or attach it somewhere else?and whats the easyest way to take the steel line off the afm bracket? cut or grind it off or what?

cap that off as well. i dont recommend venting it "out of the engine compartment"

you probably have it down near the ground somewhere right? what happens if you were to bottom out and some sparks were created? you have gasoline vapors being vented right to near the possible source of a spark.

youre better off capping that line and drilling a hole in the gas cap.

Isn't there a second trap door in the filler neck that will almost defeat the purpose of venting the gas cap? I'm not sure of this but I remember reading it somewhere.

grind the tube off the AFM bracket, sand it and paint it - never know it was there. Silicon gasket sealer in the pipes on the AFM will plug it. You can get by with just plugging the Metal line in the engine bay, but with warm temps and having the car sit, you need to go to the cap and loosen it from time to time to release the pressure...........or you can drill a hole in the cap ;)

but if one was to go ahead and run the vent line out of the engine bay, would he still need to drill the gas cap?or can you tap into the vent line back by the tank?

one or the other, but if you tap into the line by the tank you still have the problem of finding a good way to vent the gas out from under the car, staying away from potential spark sources.

my advice: just cap the line and drill a hole in the cap. easy to do, costs nothing, and you know you are as safe as you can be regarding gasoline fumes igniting as well as causing respiratory problems. (fumes into cabin)

The little spring loaded door is there to ensure you use 'unleaded' fuel. The nozzle at the pump is smaller than on leaded fuel nozzles. Up until the mid '90's, you could still buy leaded regular in many states.
