So today I decided to remove the charcoal canister to re paint it because it looked crappy. Upon removal I noticed the hose coming from the bottom was not connected to anything. Where is this suppose to go? I checked the TSRM and none of the pictures show where the lower hose goes. Then the two hoses on top: The one venting to the fuel tank was good and the other that is suppose to go to the BVSV started to go there and then was just tucked around the turbo exhaust housing not connected to anything. So I tried finding the BVSV and could not find it or any place to connect the hose. Looking at the TSRM it looks to be around or behind the thermostat. Also, I was told the motor in the car is JDM and am not sure if this has any impact on the emission control system. Any help would be great.

Upon further inspection I am pretty sure my car does not have a port for the BVSV. So if I dont have a BVSV to connect the purge line to and the bottom line is a vent the only point of the canister at this point is to vent the gas tank fumes too? Do i even need the canister for this? Why not just take it out?
Yes, the charcoal canister has a 2psi check valve in it. The purpose of this is to maintain pressure inside the tank and keep the fuel pump from cavitating under operation.
^^^ Tis true. Early models did not have the BVSV - it was a later add for this reason. It will only happen on a cold start.

my BVSV broke and i will have to find a replacement at the local junkyard.
had forgotten why the BVSV was important for the cold starts.

what happens on the cold starts? my BVSV been broken since i got the car, and i never put my canister back on and i have the line hanging and havent had a problem? also the car starts up fine with no problem. does it just run rich even tho its rich all the time?
I thought when u didnt have the CC Connected Pressure builds up in your Fuel Tank THats why when u take off the gas cap it makes a SSsssss [hissing] noise from all the pressure[then again i gota 255 walbro]...i put my CC back on and used a Honda Accord CC instead of the Heavy bulky Supra CC
