Anyone ever do this?
I filled out the application just for the hell of it. Then I got to a part about billing and i just closed the window. I figured if it was free i might as well do it.

Anyways, I got a call this morning from a guy from this site. He asked me a bunch of questions about my car and what I wanted to do to it. Then he told me that all I had to do was go to some car meets and pass out flyers, and I would get free parts. I was like, okay, I can do that. Then he told me that he was going to transfer me to an agent and see if any company actually wanted to sponsor me. Just before that, he told me that it would only be 89 bucks for a full year. And I said okay. And while he was transferring me, I hung up.

Has anyone else done this? or know of anyone who has. The company is in Super Street and import tuner, so I figured they would be legit. It seems like i would be paying 90 bucks a year for them to give companies my info.

I figured that, which is why I hung up, but I was just wondering if anyone else had done it, and what the results were.

Im looking at a Super Street that i have from Dec 07 and they have a full page ad about it. Thats pretty far to go for a scam.

Well, let me elaborate a bit. Personally I think it's a scam, or at the very best a pretty crappy deal.

What they do is give you discounts on parts. But generally their "discounted" price is more than you'd pay in any online store, but probably better than "retail".

So the discounts aren't very good and you agree to pay them $89 plus have a sticker on your car when you go to shows.

It's not free parts, which is what most people think when they hear "sponsorship".

Toyota doesn't make the Supra anymore. And your car isn't even the last gen made. It's extremely doubtful that you'll ever get a full sponsorship (free parts) with a MKIII (or MKIV). There are exceptions, but they are VERY rare.

Think about it. If I'm a manufacturer, you're a marketing tool for me. I'm not going to sponsor old cars. I'm going to sponsor new, current production vehicles because I've got a much better chance of selling to those folks.

Well....I will shamefully, but accurately chime in on this.

About 4 years ago, When I had first got into a Supra...I had come across this site.

Being that I had never been involved with any "legit" sponsorships before,
I decided to give it a try.

I had heard a lot of talk about it....some good, some bad.
For $90, I figured I'd give it a shot (even though I had a feeling the discounts wouldn't be all that great).

Long story short, I ended up getting "sponsored" by Fidanza, "Bodykits.com" which I didn't really care for, Blaupunkt and I believe XTreme Flamekits or something stupid like that.

About a month into it, My gut instincts said......"WTF Did I just do?!?!???".

Okay, So deal with it.
I ended up coming out of the hole with a $400 CD Player for less than $200,
a Fidanza flywheel that somehow, I ended up being able to order for my 3000GT ( )
and a bunch of decals and stickers.

So...Is it legit? Sure.
But all in all, it's just a big scheme and cheap way for companies to get their name out.

I can't really say anything bad about it......but next time I decide to put a body kit on with a flame thrower kit while bumping to my Blaupunkt CD player with a Fidanza flywheel under my foot.........I'll be sure to sign up again.

My friend did this SOME of the stuff is cheaper than you can find most other places, but some is not. I remember the stereos and some of the wheels being not a bad deal. And they dont really have many useful parts. Lots of stereo gear, but other than that its all ricer junk. Body kits, lights, expensive car wash shit, etc

A REAL sponsorship requires that you, as the cars owner, have a business plan on how you are marketing your car, the demographics of the audience and all the event you will go to. Notice the "will". Not the I don't feel like it today. It becomes a full time business.

There is no such thing as free. Ask Duane on that ;)
