id suggest draining the fuel tank and refilling it with new gas. gas has a tendency to separate over a long time. also, check that all your fluids are full. also, unplug the coil connector and prime the engine of oil by engagin the starter for about 3 times 5-10 seconds each. after that, plug it back in. that would be what id do, good luck!

Replace the fuel.
Replace the oil.
Change the filter.
Remove the sparkplugs.
Crank the starter, with the plugs removed, until you get actual oil pressure.
Give the starter a rest.
Run the starter again until you get pressure.
Add the plugs.
Start the motor.

Make sure there is oil in it and go for it. If it actually starts, then you can check out other systems. If there is a problem, you will find out soon. You have to start somewhere.

Is it better to do it this way, or take the plugs out like SUPRACENTRAL suggested?

Thanks for the great advice guys :icon_razz

What SC said. Charge the battery first. Also remove the EFI fuse or unplug the injector resistor.

Ah yea, pulling the EFI fuse was the step I neglected to tell you.

Thanks jj.

Heh, we'd hate to have spark plugs firing underneath the hood just laying on the head, with someone leaning over it checking the engine out while it's being turned over now, wouldn't we ;).

Redacted per Title 18 USC Section 798
Removing the EFI fuse prevents fuel from being injected and also keeps the coil packs from firing. The ignition system generates as much secondary voltage (within it's design limits) as needed to fire the plugs and will rise to that limit whenever a secondary is open circuited. That's a bad thing because it can damage the coils. It'll cause anything from outright failure to a slight misfire to a pack failure months down the road. Bottom line is never let the pack fire when it's not connected to a plug. Either ground it out or connect the wire to a cheap plug tester. Or get a buddy to hold onto it ;)

Best way to start a car after it's bin sitting.also after you start it if you plane on useing the car get new spark plugs, new battery, new air filter, new oil and just a simple tune up and you should be good

Maybe you might want to check your tires. Whether is kinda extreme in the midwest compared to cali. But make sure the bottom of your tires aren't rotted and will still hold pressure. Better to check now than to find out down the highway. Might want to change tranny and rear end oil. Oil tends to break down after a long period of time.
