I'd use some of that cash for a dictionary :D

Good luck with whatever you decide on.

Career Choice: So I finally got some money saved up and enrolled back in school to get my diploma. Looking at colleges, unfortunately the costs are high, nothing new there! But I'm looking at going to MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering) its a pretty good school to get into for mechanical things. I'm stuck between a couple things I would like to go for. Here's what I'm thinking, architect, mechanical engineering, CNC programing. If anyone would like to put in their input that would be wonderful.

FTFY :)

Either way, good luck on your decision!

Well, no offense man but umm, spelling is very crucial in any field of engineering or architecture. At the bare minimum it might be wise to learn how to use spell checker.

JZ do you have dislexia or some other learning difficulty with spelling or grammar. There are classes to help you with those subjects. People don't realize how crucial good writing skills are, so I suggest work on those.

Now job security is a funny term. I don't know what the demand for architects is but I can tell you the medical and transportation fields are something you may want to look into.

The medical field has served my wife and I well. Steady work, good benefits and if your single the procreation pool is abundant with educated prospects. :naughty:

Learn a licensed, accredited trade. Not everyone was meant to go the University. There are a lot of people out there with bachelors and masters degrees making very little money, deep in debt and lacking any useful skills.

There is no point studying for a specific career just because it will make you good money.

You should do something that you love and are good at, and it will never seem like work. (The debts will also be well worth it in the end!)

Also, your posts show that you have done absolutely no research into anything career-wise for yourself, so it is difficult for any of us to take you seriously.

the spelling is half my fault/half the keyboards fault. my girlfriends little brother and her nephew and theres always little kids around spilling shit on it. and im usually off to work and have to get my dose of SM before to get me exctied aobut my supra that is going to be sitting ha!. but architechure(SP?) is something i really like. I like drawing and designing stuff, thats another reason i like CNC. i mean id everything was ideal i would be fabricating stock cars. but we cant always have are dreams right away. thats why i want to get into something with decent money and be able to own my own thing at some time. i have been thinking about picking up a 3rd job at my buddys car dealership sellin cars like one or 2 days a week, just to try it out. he makes plenty money. considering his house is still worth 380k even in this economy. but thanks for everyones inputs. i am taking my CDL liscense test in a couple months. Hopefully drive dump truck or something to help pay for school.

rx7nut- where did you go to school, what did your course all involve

CU will be my alma matter. I enjoyed the school, but Boulder is a town full of crazies. It's got beautiful scenery, arguably the BEST location for a University in the country, but the people drive me nuts.

Courses involve the standard Mechanical Curriculum. Lots of math, Calc I,II,III and Diff EQ, Chem, Physics, etc... All the basic physical science stuff. All that followed by dynamics, thermo, circuits, etc. To much to list.

Someone above said something worth thinking about though. Trade schools offer great skill sets without the years of calc and chemistry and technical writing. If you're set on a university setting then my suggestion would be to attend a community college to go through the basic classes. You will save more money than you can imagine and it will be MUCH, MUCH easier to get decent grades.
