ok so i just got the car back together after sitting for a few months. i put mostly stock parts back on it with the exception of my front mount. now i go to start it up cranks a lot sputters a bit turns over and then dies. normal for a car thats been sitting. keep turning over and keeps sputtering but then my battery dies. so i get a jump. start cranking it with the cables on and just keeps turning. took a few ignition wires off and now theres no spark. now i know the coils are good. the wires are good. they all have a good connection. the cps is installed properly and timing is correct. the only thing i can think of being wrong is maybe the cps is bad. i had it out of its spot and just laying by where the intake normally goes for about 3 months. could the weather have damaged it? what else could my problem be?

ok so i reinstalled the cps and have spark now. ive been cranking and cranking and its been trying to start but then i get nothing. still sparking though. now i have a pretty bad leaking valve cover gasket. i pulled the 1 and 6 plugs out and they are covered in oil. would this cause it to crank and not even sputter?

^ yeah, the oil can keep it from grounding so you wont get a spark.

I was going to suggest checking your plugs and maybe bleeding the fuel rail (just loosen one of the bolts on the fuel rail until gas sprays out) Then you can get a good whiff of the fuel in there to see if it may be bad also.

ok so i changed the plugs and soaked up most of the oil and its running. but i have a new problem. when i start off in first gear itll seem to start going ok and then it will start buckcing and sometimes die and keep going. if i can get it to stay going it will drive flawlessly otherwise. when it starts bucking the tach goes down to zero and back up and so on. also when driving if i hit a bad enough bump the tach will go to zero and then back up. im not sure why this is happening. its idling perfect. drives perfect other than that. if i get on it also i can only rev it out to about 4 or 5k before its starts to break up.

all the grounds seem fine. i dont see how a ground would consistently cause the car do die from starting off in first and no other time except for large bumps. im drawing a blank.
