IM POSTING THIS FOR MY FRIEND...IVE EXHAUSTED MY THOUGHTS ON THIS FOR HIM AND DONT HAVE MANY MORE OPTIONS... I HAVE A FEW MORE IDEAS BUT I TOLD HIM TO POST A THREAD ANYWAYS TO MAYBE GET SOMETHING I DIDNT THINK OF.... ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

Ok, just got to the point of trying to get my car started, after a complete rebuild/overhual(can research my build thread is curious).

First attempts turned key nothing at all would happen no cranking no nothing. So figuring battery has been sitting away dropped that off at the autoparts store and got it charged up. Took it home tried again and again nothing at all. So figuring it is something with the NSSS or the theft deterent system we created our own starter circuit for the time being, running a large gage wire directly from the starter to the battery and cranking that way. So we got it cranking cranked fine no wierd nioses etc so happy about that but no spark, fuel or tach just cranking. So messed around with the CPS some and finally got spark, cps wires were extremely brittle did some re-wiring around the clip(needed a new clip). So now we had spark and tach movement but no fuel so after killing the battery we stopped, dropped it of to be chraged and quit for the day.

Came back to it another day with a fully charged battery. Tested fuel pump found that was good so we figured it was the fuel pump relay took it out jumped and bam now fuel pressure, spark and tach, car still wouldnt start just cranking and would spudder occasionally like it was trying too and even fire and die instantly. We checked timing and our genius selfs didnt tighten the tensioner so timing jumped way off so we re-set timing tightened that down and messed around with the Mapecu map's somemore and Bam she started ran for a minute or so turned it off with the key didnt touch anything went to start it and it would fire and instantly die. So we messed with the maps for another 1hr or so got frustrated went inside played some ps2 went out to get some food tried it for shits and giggles on the way out to lunch and she started right up ran till we turned it off tried again and nothing fire and instantly die. Went ate came back decided to re-wire the cps all the way back past any brittle wires because we were still worried about that and basically same ole story. So we changed ignitors same thing, changed coil packs same thing. We checked timing after re-setting atleast 10times and always dead on. So we are completely out of ideas at the time. When I say the car ran it was running but also sounded as if it had a miss we are still setting up the mapecu so that could be some of the rough idle when it actually idles.

Cliff's
Complete rebuild with a Mapecu
After messing around got it to start and idle(semi rough idle sounding as if had a miss)
Car randomly will start and idle every other time will fire and instantly die(not starting with key created our own starter circuit with key in the on postion havent gotten to that bug yet)
Fuel pressure is solid
Have spark and tach
Re-wired CPS
Tried Different Ignitors
Tried Different Coil Pack

just a bad cps?

well i took apart the cps to put newer magnetics with the wires (the others were hard and brittle...i put in more pliable ones from another cps) and im wondering if maybe one of the magnetic pieces isnt close enough to the rotating shaft of the cps so it catch it sometimes (when it starts) and doesnt others?

i dunno....... would that be a possibility?

injectors are brand new...they better be good lol.... the problem is we cant check things like if they are ticking with a scope because the car doesnt start more then half the time.....

didnt check compression but its obviously there...sounds fine when cranking....

My direct from RCE injectors were stuck shut. Apparently if they sit around for more than 30 days they can stick shut. If you have a 6 V power supply then you can apply briefly 6 Volts and listen for a click. Don't leave it on too long or it will overheat. Don't use 12 V, as that will fry them as they are low impedance type.

The fix was to take the stuck ones out and give them a sharp rap on the workbench.

I had similar problems with my car after it sat for an extended period of time... it is worth checking at least.

My car would not start, and in another instance my accessories would not work. Everything checked out visually, even the fuses. Problem turned out to be corrosion in the fusebox connections. It was crazy because the fuses were fine, it was the sockets themselve that corroded and would create intermittant problems. I just sprayed contact enhancer in there and replaced all of the fuses with new ones. No problems since.
