I am on the highway driving and then go to exit. The exit is in the process of doing a turn and it is a pretty wide turn. I am in the exit lane and this taxi in the lane next to me, turns wide and swipes my car. I was in my daily driver at the time.

He tried to blame it on me that I tried to change lanes. I was getting of on my way to school.

He gave me his information and the information is wrong. No police report was filed, which is wrong of me.

-Adress is wrong, looks to be abad zip code.
-License Number is wrong.
-Gave me correct model and make but wrong year.
-The phone number has nobody by that name.

No insurance information since he said he did not have his card. Anything I can do? I know I messed up but luckily it was not in my MKIII.

Did you get the license plate number? Taxi company? Call the taxi company?

Call the taxi place and tell them you NEED information on (plate number) to file a police report for an accident. Date, time, person driving, etc.

Your fault for not calling the cops then and there, but you might be able to get it righted with a bit of work.

S.O.L.= Shit out of Luck
Here's long shot: Get the year, make, model, name of taxi company, taxi number( Car number), where you were, time, off ramp any information that you can think of that will help you. call the police, find out when this Taxi is in the garage or not in service, find out when this driver is not working, then have the police go over there, or go there your self, see if the marks match the damage on your car compared to the damage on the taxi,.. a lot of work, but this is what happens when you don't the right thing,....sorry.
None of the information matches: this can be big trouble for the taxi cab owner, the car is probaly illegal,

go get "em" they could be liable if you can catch them, you don't have uninsured insurance? Sue the Taxi company as a whole. if you can prove it.
NOTHING MATCHES? This car or Taxi company is illegal period, no if's and's or butts!!!!
Do it A.S.A.P.!!!!!!

The police will be able to get all the information they need from the plate #. File a report.

I have a friend who is a cop and he ran the plates and the year he gave me did not match what the plate is registered too. Different year, same make and model. License ID is a different person and not the one that was driving. Maybe he changed a number when reading it.

Shit. Just remembered, not a taxi. It should have some TLC kind of plates. Was a Town car though.

That is what I am wondering about Koen. Then no police report was filed at the scene so that would be a late claim even if I file it now. The license ID don't match the plates. The license ID goes to a woman as well. Since the ID does not even match the name of the guy. Could this mean I have a bad case since the name does not match the License ID?

Well, no I don't think so, He gave you some information, but you had no idea it was false info intill you looked into it, now that you found out the info is false, you still may have recourse, A police report is not reqiured inless you think the damage is over $500, then after carefull consideration you realize it more that $500, that's why you reported late,... console your friend, he would know more that me.

Well, now he has to report that the guy is obviously avoiding in getting caught for some reason. What is it with people these days?

You have the plate number. That's all you need. Don't worry about the year of the car, or who was driving.

The cops don't need to be called out to the scene of the accident to take a report. Go to the police station. Tell them what happened, and give them the plate number. Also tell them the guy gave you false information. The police will document it in their report, and will do some investigation into who the registered owner is, and detectives will follow up. All you are after is a case number you can give to your insurance company.

O, ok. I will check it out, thanks. Will they take the report as legit if the guy denies it. Something like "you said, he said" since the report is going to be filed later?

dont worry about if the guys going to deny it because he will. He's made a point of lieing to you already. He did hit you and thats the facts of this story. File a report and let the police deal with it
