Hey guys, I'm having some trouble with my head gasket job.

I can't get the "Air Intake Chamber" to come off the side of the engine!

Following the TSRM, it says I have to "remove the two nuts, 5 bolts, vacuum transmitting pipes, and intake chamber with connector and gasket".

Well, I pulled out 5 bolts, 2 nuts, disconnected every pipe I could see that was connected to it.. I even pulled the throttle body off of it, but something is still holding it firmly in place.

When I pull hard at the top, I can see it tilt back a bit- the seal seems to be broken, but something is keeping it in place- and I can't see or feel what it is, and the TSRM doesn't seem to mention anything about it!

What am I missing here? Any ideas?

Well, first, I thought there were three nuts. Second, did you disconnect the EGR flange mounted at the rear of the upper manifold?

All the way to the right of the second picture above? Yes, I removed the two bolts that were holding that on.

Whatever is holding this thing in place feels like it's holding from the bottom.

Put a mirror under there and a flashlight and see. If not it might be just the bolts being rusted over time to a point its holding the manifold on. Put a flat head screwdriver wrap in a cloth (so that you wont scratch the surface) under there and slowly apply pressure to see if it moves out.
