Can't figure where this wire goes

I am putting together a basket case -66 turbo-and it is a big puzzle. The only thing that I can't figure out on the passenger side is a white wire (with an insulating sleeve around it) and a connector on the end-the kind that goes on a blade type sensor- which has this large (maybe 1 3/4" dia) grey rubber cap on it. It is in with the group of wires that come across the engine (just behind the cam gears) which include the wires that go to the sensors on the thermostat housing. Does anyone have a clue as to where it goes?

Yep...betcha that's the Oil Pressure sensor wire. The blade connector connects to the top and the gray cap fits over the top of the whole whole sensor.

Here's a pic...the oil pressure sensor is the round brass part forward of the oil filter housing, under the forward exhaust manifold heat shield.

Nice looking engine there jdub. Somewhat of an odd beast, our OP sensor. A pressure to frequency converter.

Yeah it is...found out the Cressida 7M motor uses the same sensor.

Here's a couple of pics right before the motor went in...no, that's not me. That's one of my crazy friends. We just finished taking the old motor out and cleaning up the engine bay. :biglaugh:

Beautiful attention to detail. Nice lookin' well organized shop too. Is that a two post I see? Damn, that's not a residence garage is it?

Thank you JJ...from you than means a lot ;) Spent a lot of hours on that motor.

Yeah...that's a two post with a 9k capacity and yes, the garage is next to my house. It's 55' x 35' w/ a 15' ceiling. :D

You dog. I'd kill to have that setup. All it needs is a Super Cub in the background ;). Why'd you keep the slushbox? Seems a shame to "waste" a motor like that on one.

Heehee...I get a lot of free beer from my buddies as "rental fee"

You talking about the auto tranny? I've always done autos...had one on my Chevlle SS, a turbo 400 w/ a shift kit. Thought I'd go the same route on the Supra, so I had it built to take the HP, installed a 3000 rpm stall converter, and had a valve body mod done. It was barking the old tires (sawblades w/225's on) when it hit 2nd under boost. So, I got some 18" wheels w/ 275's on the rear (235's on the front). Upgraded the differential and driveshaft too. But, like we both know, an auto isn't as efficient getting HP to the rear wheels...it does shift fast as blazes though :naughty:

Right now, the auto keeps the boost solid in the powerband...acceleration is pretty impressive. I'm putting in an AEM EMC in a few weeks...there's a great AEM tuner over in Tempe I'm going to use to set the EMS up. When it's all done, I'm gonna head down to Firebird and run it on the track for time.

We'll see how it works out...if it doesn't. I'm thinking about installing a T-400 with an overdrive add on. The manual conversion is an option too...kinda don't want to do that since I'm so lazy! LOL

Unfortunately I have to work most weekends...I kinda watch AzSupra to see when you guys are going to meet up. Haven't been able to make it happen tho. When is the next one?

I'm glad to do the ceramic for you guys...got a lot of experience w/ 7M parts :naughty: Pricing is usually less than what Jet Hot will charge and the coating is rated at 2000 deg vs Jet Hot's std 1300 deg stuff. Don't worry about sanding parts when you want to get this done...just get oil/grease off with Gunk and a wire brush. The parts get bead blasted to bare metal anyway. You DO NOT want to powdercoat or ceramic the block or head...seals them too well and causes heat retention...not good for this motor.

Sounds like a plan, def checkout azsupracentral.com and post up your services a few might end up buying stuff from you. We usually head up to Scottsdale Pavillions on saturday nights, or we are usually at Firebird friday nights. Other then that the supra guys hangout in packs rather then 1 big group.

Aha, so you're that guy who does the coatings. I should have recognized the handle. As an engineer I've always wondered about what process you were using. I've come close to buying some stuff from you but couldn't force myself to part with the cash. I may send you something to do in the future though.

That would be me :icon_razz

Most bang for the buck comes when you do the exhaust system...manifold, heat shields, turbine housing, downpipe, and exterior of the CAT.
I keep trying to tell the many guys that want this done that, but most go for :bling:
