can you tell me what this sensor is?

i have no idea what it is or what it does but it broke off on my car so i need to know so i can replace it

It's the thermal time switch for the cold start injector. Fwiw a little RTFM would have showed that...

im guessing you have had that problem before

If you drive in sub freezing weather, make sure the wires to that sensor are good. Mine were a bit weak and the cold injector wouldn't kick in. (at least I think thats why I had to crank more than normal in cold)
