Can I run a Walbro 255 on the stock system?

I just bought a Walbro 255 fuel pump and was wondering if I could install it and run everything completely stock until I pass smog and then proceed with my upgrades (Lex AFM, 550's, AFPR, etc...). I just don't want to overload my stock regulator, hoses, etc... and throw off my AFM while trying to pass smog. Will the stock regulator handle the added flow from the new higher flowing pump?

drill out the J-pipe, and you should be alright. you *MIGHT* run a little more rich with the wally, and no way to adjust it.

your stock regulator will be ok.

ha, exactly what I have seen running walbro with stock fuel system and Bosch BOV lol. But in my case I also had full 3" catless exhaust which also helps that along.

and also you could just bypass the J-tube all together rather than drilling it - accomplishes the same thing.

the only thing that needs to be enlarged/bypassed is the j-pipe. ;)

I have not ever heard of making the return hole bigger, what is that process?

sorry, was not thinking clearly. all you really need to do is bypass the j tube. ive heard that some supra's return line in the tank needs to be opended up a lil more. so i have heard.

just take the j tube plate completely off, go get a SBC fuel pump blockoff for like $5 from your parts store. Then run some 5/16's hose from the nipple coming off the fuel rail (pressure regulator) to the fuel tank return on the lower drivers side of the engine bay.
