so my machinist calls me today and tells me that my camshafts have to much wear and are garbage but everything else is done lol. before i sent them off to him i checked them and they seemed fine ( didnt look worse then other cams ive seen) you could feel some grooves with your nails on the cams were they sit in the journals and the lobes looked good very minimal wear. before the rebuild oil pressure seemed fine car ran great. ive searched for info.

Honestly, the machine shop is probably just used to small block Chevy's and doesn't know about the intricacies of a 7M.

You'll be lucky to find a set without scoring. While I might regret saying this before you post pictures, I say go for it. But definitely get some pics up.

Cam specs for re-installation:

Have him tell you what specifically is out of spec, and by how much.

If he can't, he's full of shit and is used to pushrod motors with completely different requirements.

thanks SC, will do. the pic at on the last page of the supraforum link is much worse then my cams but i will be sure to take some pics friday when i go talk to the guy. so is the scoring itself no big issue?
