Is there a difference between the turbo cams and non turbo cams? I recently went na-t and have the na cams. When I put the cps in with top dead center on the crank the cps marks don't line up like they should (the cams are top dead also). I have a gte head with the turbo cams and just need to know if i can swap them. If so do I need to take the shims from the gte also?

heads are the same. exhaust cams are the same. intake cams are different. using the shims in the same location might work but best bet would be to check the clearances.

for the cps you need to rotate it slightly counter clockwise and then it will slip in as its not straight tooth gears.

Intake cam is different. CPS is driven by the exhaust cam so something isn't lined up. The shims have to be adjusted, can't just slap it in and expect it to be spot on.

Put both cams aligned with the index marks on the back plate....the crank damper index should be pointing at "zero". I would confirm the #1 cylinder is at TDC by inserting a small diameter wooden dowel (chopstick) in the #1 spark plug hole...the hight should peak out as the crank is rotated to the proper position.

Install the CPS...it should look like this with the cams/crank installed per above:

Keep something in mind about running a NA intake cam: The power band is shifted to the left...i.e. you will have better low end power, but sacrifice power at top end. It will feel like the motor falls flat as the turbo reaches full spool.
