I am curently rebuilding my 1jz supra and am unsure what cams to buy.
From what i have found online im looking at either hks cams or the slightly cheaper crower cams.
Ive been doing research and the typical bigger is better doesn't seem to be the case with cams. 272 in and 272 ex from what i can tell will make the most power but sacrifices alot of bottom end power. i would like a streetable ride capable of 600+whp. How do hks 272 compare to crower 272's? is the lift the same? I cant find crower specs online. I am know thinking about using 272 ex and 264 in. however will i benefit from spending more $ on smaller cams? Or is the cheaper 272 crowers the way to go?
Basicaly nothing on my motor will be left stock, im also rebuilding the head?
also does anyone no a company that makes a 1jz valvetrain?
Thanks for any advice.

if yur goal is 600hps and still want good response on the street than go with slightly smaller cams like hks 264 in and ex, to be honest id get 264 if my goal was tobe only 600+hps. My older bro is running 264 in his 2j and we pushed out 800+hps. good luck on yurs and show all of us the aftermath.

I bought the Crower 272 small core cams for my 1jz. I wanted as little lope in idle as possible. You need to contact Zazzn and he can answer all of your cam questions. He is the one selling them on Supraforums. That's where I bought mine at. You might want to ask Robert at 935 motorsports as well. He may have some also...........good luck.

if its the same size cams im sure they're going to be the same lift clearances depends on small core or big core. To be honest id favor HKS because of all of the record breaking toyotas they've built in the past, but ive also seen fast and high hps 2j running on crower. For ex my bro 800+hps is running the crower cams seems to be good so far but this coming up season hes going to run HKS 280s and try to break the 1000hps barrier i think hes going to do it to.

40 hp is a ton. I have been considering buy crowers from u guys for a while as they are almost $200 cheaper than the HKS cams. Do you know the lift on those cams? also curious what does small core mean?

The specs are not in front of me, but as you have seen the "small core" 272s are closer to hks 264s.

NOW is the time to buy, because the set we have needs to move quickly, so you can almost name your own price. They need to get out of here.

If you don't get them form 935 you can always get them from me...

I gained 100 WHP under the curve win my twin k26's at 20 PSI cehck the supraforums section to see my dynos...

Definatlly the most worthwhile investment on the 1jz.

do you need the new springs if you run the 272's?
No.

And for the lift, SF's 1JZ section has a sticky with the cam specs. IIRC the lift is as much as you can get without the engine becoming valve interferance. I think it's 9.3mm, but I'm not positive. It's about 15% more then stock.

jz*supra: Haha, I beat you to it :p . I'm surprised they told you what type of vehicle has it. I bet you tried "1JZGTE" too huh? I'm pretty sure there's a 90 JZA here in Calgary that has that one. You'll have to come up to Calgary some time, and see my car :)
