it's really easy, actually! pull off the timing belt cover, take off the timing belt, back plate, then pull off the gears, pluck those suckers out, clean, and pop new ones in. use a large socket to set them in there correctly, (you'll feel that it's right) and re-assemble. (if i were you, i'd make use a 19mm socket wrench to set your crank pulley to TDC 0* BEFORE you do this, that way your cam gears will be at TDC, too, and you wont have to re-adjust them.

to get the timing belt on and off, pull off the tensioner, and the spring for the tensioner. this makes it very easy.

Yea, do what he said. You are only taking the T-belt off the cam gears, not the crank. PUT a rag in the top of the lower cover to keep anything from falling down in to the crank gear area.
I made a seal puller from a stiff coat hanger (looks like an "L"). Put motor oil on the outer part of the seal to help it go in (this oil will not keep it slippery, so it WILL stay in place when your all done). DON"T coat it with STP or assy lube etc.
Torque the cam bolts to spec (I used a large screwdriver thru one of the big holes in the gear to hold it from moving).

IT IS THAT SIMPLE !!! :biglaugh:

Look for damage on the metal surface. A bad scratch or gash could make the seal not seal properly. If you have a scratch or something I'm not sure what you could use to fix it. Maybe someone else will chime in... Good luck Emp!

If the camshaft surface is good, try pre-lubing the contacting portion of the seal/camshaft with a tiny bit of clean oil. Oh, and make sure you aren't installing the seals backward. ;)

If you pull the valve covers, and the number one cam cap, you can really see what's going on. You could probably repair a possible scratch in the bearing surface, if that's what's causing it to leak. I'd just use a little fine sand paper to make extra sure the surface is smooth. Also with the cam cap off, you can put the seal in by hand, so you know it's not getting hurt.
