I'm pretty sure you can't put them in before you put in the cam!

Edit: Ignore this message, IJ beat me to it =P

You can leave the cams in if ur replacing the oil seal in the front. Just coat it with some oil for easy slide and u can light tap it in with a rubber mallter or use a pvc pipe that has roughtly the correct diameter and tap it in with the mallter gently. That's how i put mine in when I replaced mine.

Nuh uh, i said i'm pretty sure that theres no way to put the seals on, with the cam out of the head.

IJ said You might need to loosen the front cam caps to get enough clearance to squeeze it in!

well how can that be possible if i ONLY loosen up the front ones. on the tsrm it shows them installing the seals before they are in and then on the next page hammering them in with the sst. i really really dont want to have to remove all that shit above it so is it POSSIBLE AT ALL to get them in in my situation with the valve covers on already and everything?

edit: i think i know what you mean now, but still just for safety help me out yet

alright well i got the cam seals in. i just had to loosen those front bolts just like you said to to. lol

one other question as well......when i have my matchmark lined up on the intake pulley and i look through the oil filler hole, i can only see the lobe a little bit. like it needs to be turned to the right a little bit. i have the dowel in the middle hole. is this normal?

so tomorrow when i fire the car up, or at least try, and it doesnt want to start or possibly not do anything; what are the first things to check? im going to make damn sure that my timing is right on the first time so whats after that?

IJ, i only do that for more answers, tips, comments, anything. nothing more. i posted it all at the same time anyways, not after you gave me an answer??? why does that have to matter so much. a website's a website, its all for automotive help in the end.

just line up the mark up top with the back plate, although it's tricky sometime to get the two thing to line up and the belt on. If u still have problem with timing after u do the 2 full rotation check u might wanna check ur CPS, that's what happened to me when it advance to like 35 instead of 10 tdc.
