I don't know if this is exactly technical, Mods feel free to move this if neccessary, but what are options for the 7M-GTE in terms of Cams? I heard of NA cams being swapped in, and suprasport.com offers hardwelds to your stock cams, but is that all? I don't know much about Cams, but I heard that GRPa cams were used in MK3 Production class race cars in the 80's. I found a set on Ebay for sale and are considering purchasing them and the specs are listed as 264 Exhaust, 272 Intake and 10.5mm lift. What would that do to the car in terms of drivability?

What's a good set of pistons for the 7M? There are so many choices, but what about the main name brands: HKS, JE, Ross, Wiseco, maybe GReddy. I searched HKS's website and they don't have anything. A search on Ebay found an HKS set with a 85.5mm bore for the 7M. Is HKS really any better than if I went with JE or anyone else?

Ever since I found my head to be deeply marred, I've decided to spend money on getting the Supra back up. Not just enginewise, but some cosmetic stuff too (Trying to redo the interior). This also means I'm ditching my Turbo Neon idea. Probably would have ended up a big headache anyhow.

HK$ is no better than JE and Ross

as a matter of fact i would trust Ross, JE or Wiseco more than HKS.

As for the cams

you are going to spend a nice dime on them.

So you can look at the Group A cams if they are REALLY group a but also look at Toda and Tedscomponents cams.

I was originally just going to go with JE, So I guess HK$ would just be a waste of $$ all for a little HKS Symbol nobody is ever going to see. I guess I'll stick to JE. As for cams, I have that question too on whether or not the the group a's are authentic or fakes. I guess that will be my judgment call. Where could I find Toda or tedscomponents? Are they a completely custom job? Thanks.

Toda racing

Ted components

btw anything that is as aggresive or has the same amount of lift as the group A cams needs shimless buckets. What this means to you is expect to shell out nearly 2000 on just cams and shimlessbusckets AND new valve springs at the very least.

IIRC, changing the valvespring/retainers can help your engine rev to higher rpms, and shimless buckets prevents valve float. I have an idea, but don't exactly understand the dynamics of how a more aggressive profile would need to have shimless buckets. Please explain.

Everyone always comments on the Stang rims.

noo

shimless buscket prevent the shim itself from being spit out and chewed up by the head NOT valve float. See IJ post.

I see. Hence the term a "bucket". Allright. Well, I decided against the Group A cams, it seemed a little fishy to me... But at least now i have an idea of what going on up there. I'll check in on the HPF group buy, but for now, cams remain just a future option. Heck, I have a lot of other things to worry about to get my car running again before cams. Thanks all.
